Widdrington Station & Stobswood Parish Council
Widdrington Station & Stobswood is a small Parish comprising some 2000 acres and lies 5.8 miles to the north east of Morpeth with an estimated population of over 2700 people (Based on the 2021 Census).
The parish of Widdrington Station and Stobswood is part of the administrative area of Northumberland County Council and is served by seven elected councillors whose task it is to represent the views of electors and promote development in the interests of the parish while delivering local services.
Parish Council meetings are held on the second Monday of every Month commencing at 6.30pm in the Widdrington Station Community Centre, Grange Road, Widdrington Station. Members of the public are welcome to attend meetings. (No meetings are held in January or August)
There are several groups within the community including, Widdrington Station & Stobswood Women’s Institute, Widdrington Station & Stobswood Allotments, as well as our village Food Bank and Santa Group – supported and managed by a number of volunteers from the village.
Widdrington Station and Stobswood have two local public houses, one located in Widdrington Station and one in Stobswood called the Stobswood Miners Welfare which supports the local Football Team and Cricket Club.
The village has excellent facilities, including a Doctors Surgery, Library, First School, Hairdressers, Supermarkets/local shops, ATAC Centre, Take-Away and Petrol Station and Car Garage. The village also has its own Community Centre which is well used and hosts a variety of activities including Fitness Classes, Circuit Training and Boxing Club, Badminton, Brownies/Guides and Rainbows, Line Dancing, Crafts, Slimming World and Methodist and Spirtual Church sessions. We are also lucky to be supported by our local Churches and their Reverends.
Widdrington Community Centre is also available for events and bookings and is often used to host celebrations, parties and Weddings, it also hosts our annual Elderberries lunch which the Widdrington Station & Stobswood Parish Council put on for all our older residents.
